Agile Networks to launch Digital Access Ohio in partnership with JobsOhio
COLUMBUS – Agile Networks today announced the launch of Digital Access Ohio, LLC, an innovative partnership with JobsOhio to bring fixed-wireless coverage to thousands of households across Ohio and help close a significant portion of the state’s digital divide.
The partnership supports Ohio’s Statewide Broadband Strategy, which was released in 2019 and lays out an aggressive plan to expand and enhance the state’s broadband network, making access to service available to all Ohioans. Broadband connectivity is essential for residents throughout the state to access education, employment, and healthcare opportunities.
Agile Networks, under the terms of its partnership with JobsOhio, will build, own, market, and operate up to 75 new telecommunication colocation tower sites in Ohio over the next five years. Additionally, Agile Networks will install additional access points on 135 existing telecommunication towers in the state over the next two years. Third-party operators such as wireless carriers and wireless Internet Service Providers can then leverage this infrastructure to provide last-mile broadband capabilities.
Agile Networks has a decade-long operating history of designing and operating connectivity networks in Ohio, coupled with strategic relationships that facilitate collocation, tower siting and assets management. The Canton-based company designs, builds, and manages wireless infrastructure asset and data networks in Ohio, West Virginia, Indiana, Kentucky, and Pennsylvania. It utilizes data centers, communication towers, fiber, and wireless technology to deliver middle mile, last mile, and campus connectivity for public safety entities, cellular carriers, and rural Internet Service Providers.
Agile Networks was acquired in May by Cincinnati-based altafiber, which is the leading supplier of fiber-based services in Greater Cincinnati, and provides backhaul services to the majority of the cellular macro towers in the region.
